Former WBA Light Heavyweight champion Beibut Shumenov (14-2, 9) may have been made to look impotent in his most recent bout, a "split" decision loss to Bernard Hopkins, but he is heavily favoured for his upcoming contest.
The Kazakh puncher is priced at an astonishing 1/40 to win his bout later today against against 33 year old American Bobby Thomas Jr (14-2-1, 9) in what is Shumenov's debut as a fully fledged Cruiserweight. Thomas enters the bout as the huge under-dog priced at 14/1.
Whilst we understand why Shumenov is the clear favourite, and even agree with the idea that he should be a big favourite, we do wonder just what he's done to be that heavily favoured and in fact we wonder if anyone will be putting a bet on him given the odds.
Sadly for those fans looking for some value there is no other markets on this bout other than the "to win" market, though the draw is priced at 33/1. A real shame that there is no "to stop" markets available to gamblers in the UK.
