Former WBA Atomweight champion Ayaka Miyao (21-6-2, 5) [宮尾 綾香] may not have had a busy time in the ring this year but she is keeping her face out there having appeared at a press conference to announce a gym transfer last month and today appearing at a special event.
The event today saw the diminutive fighter appear at the STORIA cafe to tall about her career, her future plans and indulge in some fun with her interviewer.
At the event Miyao admitted that there is not set date for her ring return, though she was hoping to be back in action in December in what would be her Watanabe debut following her transfer from Ohashi gym. She also stated that it was her first event like this, but despite it being a new experience she did seem to take to it like a duck to water and looked to enjoy every minute of it, including the chance to hit her host in the body, with the host selling it in amusing fashion.
Although her return isn't yet set, some are speculating December 31st, she is in the gym and is preparing for the opportunity when it comes. It's clear she wants to become a world champion again in the future and we'd not be surprised to see Watanabe offer her a slot on a year ending show with the potential to have 4 world title bouts on the card, if things go to plan.
