The month of October may have kicked off with a professional world title bout between Knockout CP Freshmart and Carlos Buitrago but in the amateur the focus was on the action in Incheon as we had a trio of Gold medal bouts.
The first woman to win a gold was Indian superstar Chungneijang Marykom who claimed the gold in the 51KG division with a close 2:0 decision win over Kazakhstan's Jaina Shekerbekova who took home a well deserved Silver medal.
The second final came in the 60KG division as China's Yin Junhua over-came South Korea's Park Ji-Na with a 2:0 victory. This gave China's it's first gold medal in the boxing whilst South Korea saw a rare decision go against them.
The third final saw North Korea's Jang Un-Hui claim the Gold in the 75KG division by defeating China's Li Qian 2:1. This bout however was hugely controversial with the crowd breaking out in boos with many feeling the Chinese fighter had been robbed of a clear win. Sadly this was just the latest in a string of controversial decisions which has seen a number of complaints issues by fighters and teams who seem to have felt that the judging has been nothing short of shambolic.
