One of our fantastic Thai sources has informed that Amnat Ruenroeng (14-0, 5), the current IBF Flyweight champion, will be at ringside in Macau this coming weekend to watch the fight between compatriot Kwanpichit OnesongchaiGym (27-0-2, 12) and former amateur rival Zou Shiming (5-0, 1). Not only will Ruenroeng be there to enjoy the action, which will also feature Manny Pacquiao defending his WBO Welterweight title against Chris Algieri, but he will also be there with the intention of finalising a deal to fight Shiming, if the Chinese fighter over-comes Kwanpichit.
If Shiming can over-come Kwanpichit it seems likely that Shiming will battle the Thai on February 14th in Macau.
The mooted bout between Ruenroeng and Shiming would be their 4th meeting, following 3 bouts as amateurs. It would also be Shiming's first wold title bout as a professional, continue his extremely fast rise through the rankings, and would be Ruenroeng's third defense of the belt having previously beaten Kazuto Ioka, via split decision, in Japan and McWilliams Arroyo in a very tight bout in Thailand.
This is the second interesting story regarding a February 14th card in Macau following the report that Donnie Nietes will be defending his WBO Light Flyweight title on the same show with a mooted bout against Francisco Rodriguez Jr being the likely option there.
