Over the past week or so we've began to hear a lot of rumours regarding a yet to be announced Ohashi show for December 29th. The first of those rumours was that Japanese wunderkind Naoya Inoue (8-0, 7) was going to be defending his WBO Super Flyweight title against Filipino slugger Warlito Parrenas (24-6-1, 21), following that there was rumours regarding the rest of the Ohashi stable appearing on the card, which will essentially be the 2015 version of FUJI TV's "FES" show.
Today we were informed of another brilliant proposed bout for the same show. That is a bout between former 2-weight world champion Akira Yaegashi (22-5, 12) against heavy handed IBF Light Flyweight champion Javier Mendoza (24-2-1, 19), a bout that really could provide us with a FOTY contender to end 2015.
A fight between Mendoza and Yaegashi would give Yaegashi a great opportunity to become a 3-weight world champion, claiming a Light Flyweight title on his second shot at, whilst it would give Mendoza a fantastic chance to expand his profile and it would give fight fans a guaranteed barn burner.
It is worth noting that the same source also included a story that stated WBC Bantamweight champion Shinsuke Yamanaka (24-0-2, 17) may be defending his title against Alejandro Hernandez (30-11-2, 16). We suspect that wires have been crossed here with Yamanaka not expected on the show, however Hernandez maybe lined up as a possible opponent for Ryo Matsumoto (15-0, 13), who is expected top appear on the card.
At the moment the details regarding the show are still "sketchy" but it also seems likely that Takuma Inoue (5-0, 1) will defend his OPBF Super Flyweight title on the show.
