Earlier today the police department in Kanagawa had a special chief for a day as the popular IBF Light Flyweight title champion Akira Yaegashi (25-5, 13) [八重樫 東] joined the force for the day.
Yaegashi, a 3-weight world champion, helped pratrol an area in Yokohama, where he helped with security and the traffic association
The popular fighter hasn't yet got his next bout announced, but we do know that it will be against Filipino Milan Melindo (35-2, 12), in a mandatory defense of the IBF world title. The bout is likely to come in May and although some may suggest Yaegashi should be focussing on such a significant bout it is nice to see that he is taking some time away from the ring and is helping the local community, even if the role was mostly an honourary one.
