Tomorrow we'll get the chance to see a Japanese Bantamweight title fight as, Ryo Akaho (30-2-2, 19) [赤穂 亮] defends his title against #1 contender Yuta Saito (10-7-3, 7) [齊藤 裕太] at the Korakuen Hall, in a bout televised on delaye on G+.
Today both Akaho and Saito took part in their weigh in for the ciontest and both men made weight.
On the scales the champion was around 117.5lbs, and lookedin great shape despite being the lighter man. The champion spoke about his level and seemed to suggest that he wasn't quite world class yet, but that he was fine at Japanese level for now and that he was going to keep a hold of his title, and will use his speed and control of distance to do just that. Whilst also stating he was in the best condition of his career.
The challenger was the heavier man, weighing in at 117.75lbs for the bout, and he showed his desire to be champion saying he had come up the hard way and had really had to fight for this opportunity. He knows that a win will change his life and it looks like he's trying to complete a Rocky-esque career best win, and put himself on the map against a man who still aspirations of becomign a world champion.
