The main event of the card saw former OPBF Lightweight title challenger Accel Sumiyoshi (8-4-2, 2) [アクセル住吉] battle against Yusuke Nakagawa (10-6-1, 6) [中川 祐輔] in a contest between two men who were Japanese ranked contenders at the start of the day.
On paper the bout didn't scream "immediate classic" but fans who follow the Japanese scene in detail will have known that both men are better than their records suggest and both were going to give their all here. With that in mind there was little surprise when the two men enggaged in a brilliantly competitive bout.
From the opening moments the bout was competitive with a wonderful back and forth swing that culminated in an all out war in the 8th and final round, as both men knew how important winning that round was to the over-all result.
In the end there was very little to separate the two men and that was shown on the score cards that read 77-76, twice, and 77-75 all in favour of Sumiyoshi. Whilst there was some that felt Nakagawa deserved the decision there won't be many who will argue too strongly about the result in what was a razor thin contest that deserves a rematch in 2017.
